Gusslehmpavillon
Built, Current
The cast clay pavilion (Manal) is the first building to be realised using the circular building materials developed by Oxara. Several years of collaboration between the HSLU and the various industrial partners have resulted in spaces that find their character in the examination of the specific material properties of earth-based constructions and the general principles of sustainable building practice. The separation of the hybrid structure into elements for compressive and tensile loads, the consistent application of the design-to-disassemble philosophy and the additive handling of the pavilion's shell are promoted from constructive solutions to space-defining factors: An integral planning without phases. In the built space, the pressure arches and vaults are reminiscent of archaic precedents, while the spatial concept and the object-orientated design of all parts establish an optimistic present.
