The new stand is designed as an infrastructure building whose basic functions of supporting, separating, and insulating are performed separately by specialized objects. An expressive roof structure made of reused concrete columns and steel beams forms the structural and formal backbone of the project. Beneath it, a wide ramp from the north and a staircase from the south define the area of the eleven seating tiers. To ensure that each seating tiers and each of the 624 seats is directly accessible, they intersect laterally with the diagonal paths. The surprising geometry results from the consideration of barrier-free access and the associated standards.
The cabin suspended under the roof marks the main entrance to the grandstand and the outdoor dining area below. The cabin accommodates the stadium announcer and a flexible multi-purpose room. Access control to the stands is easily managed at the start of the ramps and stairways. The rear area between the stadium and the sports hall remains public, making the ground floor of the new building accessible from the outside.
